Perhaps it is still in common use. During game each player must allow a ball played towards him or her only after one bounce on his or her side of the table. It must be returned so that it bounces on the opponent's side. Table tennis is fast and demands the quickest reactions of sportsman. A skilled player can impart spin to the ball that makes its bounce and difficult to predict. And will return with confidence. Spin combined with speed makes table tennis an exhilarating sport to watch as well as play. However there is tremendous difference between the game that is played on the competitive level and that played at home for recreation. Skilled player is required to understand how competitive players can do what seems impossible to the untrained eye.

Accessories of table tennis

1. The ball: The ball is the major accessory of table tennis. It is lightweight, white color small high bouncing hollow celluloid ball.

2. The table: Another most important accessory of the game is table tennis. The table is long, wide, and high with a manufactured timber, layered with a smooth, low-friction coating. The table or playing surface is divided into two halves by a high net.

3. The racket: It is a wooden racket covered with rubber on one or two sides. The rubber may be pimpled rubber. The pimples are outward, that is composed of two materials, a sponge layer, covered by a pimpled rubber. Some rackets are not covered with rubber at all. A naked racket is more resistant to a spin although it is illegal to use in competitions.
