Plumbing Parts - The Units Of Plumbing

Plumbing parts are the valuable components of plumbing. Each of these parts has a significant role to play in the plumbing process. The correct fitting and placement of plumbing parts and their proper care and maintenance are necessary for ensuring problem free and efficient functioning of the plumbing arrangement.

Various plumbing parts

Every component of plumbing has several plumbing parts associated with it. Faucets, toilets, and drains - all have a number of parts making them up. The complete line of replacement plumbing parts, toilet repair parts and faucet parts are commonly kept in stock by various dealers.

Bathroom parts make up considerable portion of plumbing parts. Among bathroom parts are lavatory drain parts, toilet parts, tub and shower parts and urinal parts. Faucet parts - another important constituent of plumbing parts, consists of aerators and adapters, cartridges, escutcheons and flanges, handles, spouts, sprayers, faucet stems, pop-ups, shower balances, sleeve pullers, reseating tools, tube benders and seals. Besides there are the pipes, pumps, strainers, valves, water filters and water heaters.

Common plumbing parts stored by dealers are:
* handles that are used to operate the faucet
* dual handle (ceramic) cartridge used for controlling water flow
* shower stems used for regulating water- on and off
* spouts from where water comes out
* flushometers
* cover plates of faucets called escutcheons
* faucet seat for washer to sit against while shutting off the water
* toilet ball cock acting as valve for water filling and
* flush valve which flushes the toilet

Notable points in buying plumbing parts

It must be noted that buying plumbing parts from professional plumbing contractors can be beneficial. The contractors warrant products supplied by them. So, if there is a problem with the part after installation then the homeowner need not have to bear the recurrent expenses. Now, manufacturers of products sold may also provide guarantee. However, even in such case the plumber's or plumbing contractor's help will be required for installation.

Again, it is difficult for the homeowner to adjudge the quality of the plumbing parts since he is a layman in plumbing matters. So, even if the homeowner may obtain the plumbing parts at a cheaper price than what the contractors offer he may unknowingly make compromise on the quality.
