A memorial is an object served as a memory of something, usually or an event. Popular form of memories include landmark object as photo, statues, nature and so on. The most common type of memorial is the photo. Also common are war memorials commemorating those that have died in wars. Memorials in form of cross are called intending crosses. Memory can be contained in objects. Several authors stress the fact that the relationship between memory and objects has changed since the nineteenth century. These specific objects can refer to either a distant time or place. This notion can easily applied to another practice that has a specific relationship with memory e.g. photography. Photography is the process of making pictures by means of capturing light on a light sensitive medium, such as sensor or film. The ability to create new memories, store them for periods of them, and recall them when they are needed allows us to learn and interact.

Conclusion

Photography has remained the primary method of recording important visual events since its introduction in the 19th century. Photograph captures a life like view of subject whereas paintings where subject to the interpretations and level of skill of the painter. The myth of the memorial photo frame was spread even among the educated community until the 19th century. The idea was abandoned only when they started seeing personalities and leaders as photographs in newspapers. Another myth is associated with Vallalar, a saint who lived in the British era in South India, that his image could not be captured by camera. Memorials in form of cross are called intending crosses. Memory can be contained in objects.
