All throughout the day, the refrigerator is running. At night when everyone is asleep, the air conditioner hums and works its magic. In daytime, you have the television, radio, microwave, vacuum cleaner and washing machine on. Let's not forget about the lights that illuminate the entire area.

Now, is it really possible to save energy? Given the number of your appliances at home and how frequent you use them, is there really a way for you to save??

The answer is: yes, it is possible. It is just a matter of buying energy saving appliances so when you go plug them in, you will not drive yourself paranoid on how much energy you are consuming.

Let's look at these energy saving appliances one by one.

Energy saving appliance #1: Washing Machine

The clothes whirl and get cleaned up, but how about the energy used to run that washing machine? How much is being consumed? Washing machine can hamper your savings big time if you are not using the energy saving one. You must have efficient and effective washing machine. You must have this energy saving appliance that is known to have the lowest operating cost. Check for the Energy Star too! If your washing machine meets the Energy Star requirement then you got yourself an energy saving appliance.

No detergent cleaning powder wasted. This must also be the motto of your washing machine. If it can use up your detergent totally, not wasting a granule then we're seeing efficiency here!

Energy saving appliance #2: Dryer

If you have an energy saving washing machine, then it follows that you must also own an energy saving dryer. This energy saving dryer must function like any other dryer, like it must have an easy iron feature and extra rinse power. It knows also how to reduce spin speed. Look for the usual Energy Star trademark to know that yours is truly an energy saving appliance.

Energy saving appliance # 3: Dishwashers

Dishwashers do not just waste water, they further waste energy. That is why it is imperative that you locate one that is a certified energy saving appliance. This dishwasher must function flawlessly with its advanced yet user-friendly features. It must sport multisystem baskets for maximum space. Turbo-energized with an extremely capable drying system, it washes dishes and gets rid of grease and mess like no other dishwasher can. As usual, the Energy Star logo signifies that your dishwasher is truly an energy saving appliance.

Energy saving appliance #4: Refrigerators

Try having two refrigerators at home and see how your bill skyrockets fast. Refrigerators and freezers are known to eat up energy, but they can pass up as energy saving appliances only if they can tolerate the right volumes, if they pass the pull down test and if they can keep up with the right internal temperatures no matter what the external ambient temperatures are.

You may consider it a downside if you purchase energy saving appliance because it is more expensive than your regular appliance. But we're talking long-term efficiency here, and only energy saving appliance can do that part. Brace yourself to pay more for the appliance, but be glad after you discover that your bills have dramatically dwindled.

Think of it this way too: energy saving appliance contributes to a safety environment and natural security. How, you ask? Simple. If you use oil, gas and electricity wisely, you are indirectly helping out with the country's competitivenes. Pollution is instantly reduced when you know how to save energy.

We all know how the country is plagued with the global climate problem. Global warming adversely affects us, no thanks to carbon dioxide. If we use energy saving appliance that cuts down the use of carbon dioxide, then we are helping out our planet that way. Just imagine, your 10-year old refrigerator contributes one ton of carbon dioxide every year! So if you ditch this ref with an energy saving model, then you are doing your planet a favor.

See, how much an energy saving appliance can do? It helps you out in more ways than one. Not only does it make you a more frugal family member, it even drives you to become a responsible citizen of the earth. So, start searching for the Energy Star in every appliance you purchase and never settle for anything less.
